RentsMatch is a matching platform that connects renters and landlords. We do not own, manage, or control any rental properties listed on this platform. We are not a party to any rental agreements or transactions between renters and landlords. All rental decisions, including application approvals, lease terms, and screening requirements, are solely determined by the landlord or property owner. Users are responsible for verifying all information, listings, and parties before entering into any agreement.

2. Screening & Background Check Disclaimer

RentsMatch does not perform background checks, credit checks, identity verification, or tenant screening. Any screening, verification, or application requirements are conducted independently by landlords or through third-party services. We are not responsible for the accuracy, results, or outcomes of any screening conducted outside our platform.

3. Application Fees

Renters can create a profile and be matched with listings on RentsMatch at no cost. However, some landlords or property owners may require application fees, background checks, or screening fees at later stages of the rental process. These fees are determined and collected solely by the landlord or third-party providers, not by RentsMatch.

4. Listings & Information Accuracy

RentsMatch does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any listings, user profiles, or property details. All information is provided by users (including landlords and renters), and users are responsible for verifying details independently.

5. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, RentsMatch shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of the platform, including but not limited to rental decisions, interactions between users, or any agreements made between renters and landlords.

6. Fair Housing Compliance

RentsMatch is committed to compliance with the Federal Fair Housing Act and all applicable state and local fair housing laws. Our matching algorithm filters listings based solely on financial criteria entered by the renter themselves — including budget, income range, and location preferences. We do not filter, rank, or exclude users based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status, disability, or any other protected class. Any landlord found to be discriminating on the basis of protected characteristics will be immediately removed from the platform.

7. No Endorsement of Listings

RentsMatch does not endorse, verify, or recommend any specific listing, landlord, or renter. The presence of a listing on RentsMatch does not constitute an endorsement of the landlord or property. Renters are strongly encouraged to visit properties in person, verify ownership, and independently confirm all listing details before making any rental decisions or payments. Never wire money or pay a security deposit without verifying the landlord's identity and legal right to rent the property.

8. Fraud Prevention

RentsMatch takes fraud seriously. If you encounter a suspicious listing, an unusual payment request, or any behavior that seems dishonest, please report it immediately using the "Report" button on any listing or by contacting us directly. Common rental scams include requests for wire transfers, unusually low rent prices, and landlords who claim to be overseas. Always verify before you pay anything.
